Needs Foster
- the dog is in IMMEDIATE need of a foster home
Available
- the dog is ready to be adopted
Pending
- the dog is in a two week trial with a new home
Hold - the dog is not yet ready to be adopted into a
home because we do not have all the information available on the dog
All dogs adopted from Weimaraner Rescue are SPAYED
or NEUTERED, current on shots, heartworm tested, and have a microchip implanted.
There are NO exceptions.
If you are pre-approved to adopt and are
interested in adopting one of these dogs, please e-mail us at MHWC Rescue Coordinator.
If you are NOT yet pre-approved to adopt,
please go to our rescue page and download an application packet or e-mail the
Rescue Committee
to request an adoption application packet. In order to meet a dog one on one,
we MUST have an application from you. We do have scheduled Meet-n-Greets
in public locations and anyone is welcome to attend those events. Coming
to those events allows you to see a large variety of dogs and allows us a
chance to meet you so that we can better find a match for you.
See our Events page for more information on
those Meet-n-Greet dates, times, and locations.
We are no longer adopting OUTSIDE A FOUR HOUR DRIVE from Denver. If you live farther
than a four hour drive from Denver, you will need to look to another rescue group to find
your new forever friend.
If you live in the midwest or northwest, visit other
Weimaraner rescue websites for dogs available in your area.

- Framer is a very loving four year old blue male. He was dropped off at the local animal shetler because his owners didn't have anymore time for him. He does
well with other dogs and is fine with cats that we can tell. He is neutered and up to date on shots. He has (as sometimes Weims get) a fatty tumor on his neck that is being checked out. He loves to go for
rides and is a joy to be around. He likes sitting in a backyard and chewing on his chew toys. He is a very layed back male.

- Quinn 2.5 yer old gray spayed female weim. She came into the shelter as a stray, and is currently in a temporary foster home. Quinn is a sweetheart,
and is 74 pounds. She is house-trained. She does ok with other dogs, but does exhibit some food aggression so she must be kept separate from other dogs at meal times. location - Wichita, KS. More pics and info coming soon.

- Quip year old gray neutered male weim. He came into the shelter as a stray, and is currently in a temporary foster home. Quip is a nice boy, fairly laid back
and about 80 pounds. He is house-trained. Does well with other dogs, except he must be separated at meal times. Quip is shy at first but warms up quickly - he craves attention and just wants to be loved. location - Wichita,
KS. More pics and info coming soon. Contact MHWRC mhwcrsqapprqst@msn.com if you are interested in fostering or adopting Quip.

- Blue is a 4.5 year old blue male weim. Blue is a great weim, but he's been adopted three times and returned three times
because people fall in love with his beauty and don't realize his high-energy requirements. Blue is wonderful with kids and other dogs, unknown with cats. When Blue sees the cats
in the shelter, he ignores them. He has not lived with cats before, though. Blue is a typical energetic weim. If he doesn't receive exercise he is not happy and he will try to escape
a fenced yard. It would be best to crate him indoors when you are gone. He knows some commands, is house-trained and seems fine in the crate. The shelter had a program where Blue
was worked with every day on his commands. Blue heels VERY nicely on leash. Blue was originally turned into the shelter in the summer of 2007 along with another weim. He was turned
in because his owners were moving. We feel Blue would make a great addition to a family provided they understood what the weim breed is all about. Picture coming soon. Blue needs a
foster home, please. Contact MHWRC mhwcrsqapprqst@msn.com if you are interested in fostering or adopting Blue.

- Julia Hi! My name is Julia, a.k.a. Julia Gulia. I’ve been told that I am very sweet and loveable. I love to play Frisbee, I even have my own special
disks that I like to play with. I love to be petted on my nose and like to play with squeaky toys until I figure out how to get the squeaker out. But I only chew on my own toys, everything of yours is safe! I
know all my basic commands and am fully house and crate trained (I love my crate!). I also like to sleep on my own bed during the day. My parents love me very much but one of the other kids is very allergic to
me. I need to live with a family that doesn’t have little kids. I don’t really understand them and they get a little to close to me for my comfort. I have to growl to let them know that they are getting on my nerves.
I really love to walk and run outside. When I go to the dog park I will tell the other dogs “hi” but that’s about it. I prefer the company of people over other dogs, but I get along with them just fine. I think cats are
fun to chase around. I really want to find a home that loves me and will have time to spend with me. Adopt me today if your ready to love and be loved!! Contact MHWRC mhwcrsqapprqst@msn.com
if you are interested in fostering or adopting Julia.

- Sara is a 7 year old dobe-marked female weim. She was purchased at a local pet store, and lived with her family until they fell on hard
financial times. They loved Sara very much but were unable to afford to feed her. Sara is great with other dogs, cats and kids. Sara spent most of her time outdoors, within a 3 foot fence. The neighbor who
contacted rescue told us that Sara really wanted to be inside with the family and would beg to be let inside by scratching on the door. Sara has a lot of energy for her age. She is affectionate, good in the car,
house-trained, and knows sit. She does ok on the leash, but could use some training overall. Sara is prone to counter-surfing, so a weim-savvy home may be best for her. Sara is about 60 pounds and needs to gain some
weight as she is quite thin. Sara is currently in boarding awaiting a foster home. Won't you give her a nice place to stay while she waits to be adopted?? Contact MHWRC mhwcrsqapprqst@msn.com if you are
interested in fostering or adopting Sara.

- JC is a 10 year old gray male weim. He's lived most of his life with Lola. He is a NO with cats, but is great with kids and other dogs.
He is house-trained and obedience trained. He is used to being left in the house while his owner is at work, and he is not destructive. He would do best with access to a doggie door. J.C.
is a very large weim at 110 pounds, and he could definitely benefit from a weight-loss plan and getting on a better diet. J.C. has ear problems, most likely resulting from a food
allergy. His owner is unable to afford the food that he needs, and notes that his ear problems have resulted in surgery for an ear hematoma. J.C. does have polyps in his ears from
a lifetime of ear infections. More than likely, the ear problems could be easily resolved with a more high quality food without wheat and corn, which are the top 2 allergens for
dogs. The Rescue would like to find JC a foster or adoptive home, and get JC out of the shelter. Please!! contact us at mhwcrsqapprqst@msn.com

- Pink Girl Update. Pink Girl was born on 12-2-07 and in her foster home (one of Priscilla’s five puppies).
She is a wonderful Weim/black lab mix. Not only is she super cute and as soft as velvet, but she is also very energetic and very playful! She will do best in an active home where the people
run/hike/bike/etc. and can take her along. Since she is energetic, she would do better with kids over the age of 10 or so. She is crate trained and has been doing well on a leash so far. She
gets along with her foster home’s two male Weims and their cat. She loves toys, bones, ice cubes, and baby carrots! She’s a cuddle-bug and loves to nap right next to her foster mom and has yet to turn down a good belly rub.
She is tired of being called “Pink Girl” and can’t wait for you to adopt her and give her a proper name! We will only adopt her to a home where the adopter is home a majority of the time to properly
train her. Only approved puppy adopters (meaning someone able to be home a majority of the time) will be allowed to meet her - we will not adopt her to a household where the members all work away
from the home. Please contact MHWRC at mhwcrsqapprqst@msn.com if you are interested in adopting this adorable girl; however you can see more pictures of her here. Weim Lab/Mix Puppies

- Galt Hi my name is Galt. I am a one year old, and they tell me I will be a very large male –since I am already very tall. I
am great with other dogs, unknown with kids and a no with cats. My prior adoptive home had a cat until I "caught" one of their cats – the cat is ok, thank goodness. I am dobe-marked. I am house-trained,
and learning about the crate. I have a very, very high energy level; therefore, I probably need to go for a couple of walks during the day.

- Jake14 month old gray male weim. Jake is house-trained,
good with other dogs and children. Update: Very energetic and playful. Does well and will play with other dogs of all sizes. Would not be good with
cats or small kids, he is a jumper. Initially shy around people, but seems to warm up very quickly and is very affectionate. Once he gets used to you he is a definite cuddler.
LOVES playing fetch and being chased, but will come and give the toy as well so you can throw it for him again. He also loves stuffed toys, he will play by himself with them
and throw them for himself. Really likes car rides. He is also learning his name and has done pretty well with this. Jake can jump/ clear 4 feet with NO problem, would recommend
a home with high fences. Have not noted any digging. He will also bolt out of an open door if given a chance. We are working with him on leash walking, would recommend a harness
for him as he is expert of backing out of his collar. He is VERY strong and will pull against the leash. He likes to chew, you can redirect him fairly easily but he will also grab
and chew a shoe or bag before you even know he's gone. Knows how to sit for food/ treats, and is working very hard on house breaking (doing well with that) He will likely need
reinforcement for this in a new house. He has done fine in our utility room with a dog door during the day. Overall is very intelligent and inquisitive, and once he gets used to
you is a very happy and loving guy. (These are the best pictures we could get of him. Most of them were of his butt because he won't hold still long enough to snap one!)
If you are interested in adopting Jake please contact us at mhwcrsqapprqst@msn.com

- Rebel is a 1.5 year old silver male weim. He was also used in a puppy-mill situation in Colorado,
and was given up because he is impotent. Rebel has lived as a kennel dog, so he is crate-trained. He will need to be introduced to life inside a home. Rebel
is great with other dogs, but unknown with cats or kids. Rebel needs some TLC and someone with patience and understanding. Rebel is a friendly boy who'd like
a place to call home. Picture coming soon. Please contact MHWRC. mhwcrsqapprqst@msn.com if you are interested in adopting Rebel.

- Shadow is a 2.5 year old blue female weim. She was used in a puppy-mill situation in Colorado, and sadly her
last litter all perished. So, her owner gave her up to the vet clinic after she had to be spayed. Shadow has lived as a kennel dog, so she is crate-trained. She will
need to be introduced to life inside a home. Shadow is great with other dogs, but unknown with cats or kids. Shadow needs some TLC and someone with patience and understanding.
Shadow is a sweet girl that craves human attention. Please contact the Rescue at mhwcrsqapprqst@msn.com if you are
interested in adopting Shadow.

- Mr Gray ( formerly known as Ute) is a 2-3 year old male weim. He has been living on a Indian Reservation for his entire life, tied to a tree. He is extremely thin, about 20
pounds underweight. He was neutered last year and is up-to-date on shots. He is very friendly with people and craves human attention. He is ok with older with children, but a defininte no with cats or small dogs. He has been starved and fed just
a few times a week, so he has some food issues. A very kind person negotiated Ute's release from a sad life. He will be arriving on Monday, April 14th and he will need a foster home at that time. We feel Ute wouldn't
do well in boarding and needs the TLC and human interaction that he could receive in a foster home. Update: Ute is a very sweet and loving dog. Once he settles down a bit enjoys laying in the
the sunshine. He is the happiest with someone around. Please contact MHWRC. mhwcrsqapprqst@msn.com
if you are interested in adopting Ute.

- Visalia(like vidalia onion, but with an "s") is a calm 3-year-old girl (you know, Weim calm with proper exercise).
Everything about this dog just begs you to love her - she has the power to melt humans!!! She has a darling "puppy" face and makes very cute chortling sounds when excited. We've
nicknamed her "Miss Piggy" because she dances and makes the most noise for food. She loves being active outside - her owners said she lives for hunting. She has a little scar on
her nose from a goose to prove it! Her foster family has seen her keen nose and intense concentration in action. This dog points at chipmunks for a half hour while sitting at the
patio door. It would be great if she could go to a hunting family, but Visalia would probably also be happy with frequent off-leash wilderness adventures. She responds well to an
electronic training collar, and will need one for her own safety off leash. Just having it on is usually enough. Visalia knows "come" and "sit" - she comes at her own pace in the
absence of a reward or warning buzz, even with her special "kissing sound" command, and doesn't usually sit for long. Outside of house-training (perfect), "no", and an occasional shake,
this appears to be the extent of her obedience training. However, she is not an unruly dog. She LIKES to behave for the most part, and should pick up everything else with some consistent
work. She's learning "down" from the couch, and typically complies until she can sneak back on. She is a lap dog.
Her original family has raised her since puppy hood. They had a new baby, a house full of dogs and a job that requires travel. She has been VERY well-loved, but they thought she should be in a
home that can offer her more exercise and attention. Visalia was also showing a little jealousy over dad toward the baby (no bad actions, just a gut feeling), and has only been around older kids.
Her owners suggested that she go to a home with kids 5+ years. She has been around a young 5-year-old with her foster fam and did fine. Visalia has adapted well to the move - She doesn't appear
to have any Weim separation anxiety or nueroses. We started seeing her playful personality after a few days. She loves to bury her head in your lap and give kisses. Her owners said she can be very
protective; she has already become a guard dog in her new territory. Visalia has been staying in a 3-foot-fence thus far. She would probably do best in a house with other dogs, but is a low-key alpha.
She and our two other dogs established a pecking order pretty quickly and are a happy pack now. She should also have a strong, firm and consistent owner - she is clearly more comfortable with a routine
and leadership. Does fine for several hours in the crate, and will sleep there. This girl needs to lose about 10-12 pounds to be healthy. Even with the extra weight, she has a beautiful silhouette. She
is stunning! You won't be able to help but fall in love with her (we have)!

- Jager Jager is a very loving dog. He is four years old and has been with me since he was a puppy. Jager is a very low key dog and loves
attention. Jager at first is very timid at first until he gets to know you. He plays well with other dogs but does like to be on his own with his owner. I purchased Jager from a pet store here in Colorado
Springs. I bought him while my husband was servicing in Iraq and we have been attached ever since. I am now 7 months pregnant and I can not keep him. This is breaking my heart but I am hoping to find him a good home.
I have never had a cat around Jager so I do not know how he would act. I do feel that Jager is so loving that having a cat would never be an issue. Jager has been a part of our family for 4 years now so he has been
well taken care of. He is updated on all shots. He is house trained so well that I can not remember the last time he was in his crate. I work 8-5 and he is in the house all day and waits for us to come home
on the sofa. Yes, spoiled.... Inside dog!!!

- Trey Dear Future Forever Family: My name is Trey, and I'm a 4-year-old gray male weim. I am a very sweet boy, friendly
with people and other dogs. I am house-trained and crate-trained, and looking for a family to call my own and shower my love on. I also need a family who loves me enough to help me slim
down and get the appropriate medical attention - my previous family let me eat as much food as I wanted, and I am now about 50 pounds overweight and sluggish. Most likely, I have a
thyroid condition that needs treatment; medication is very inexpensive (only about $20 a month), so I'm hoping to find a forever family that can help me get the medicine, exercise,
and food control to slim down and become healthy. I will repay you with my eternal loyalty, friendship, and love. I need a foster home in order to get have a chance to find my forever
family, so if you can foster me or would like to meet me, please contact June at June with the Utah/Idaho Weim Rescue to meet me
as soon as possible. Love, Trey Update: He will stay in Idaho to be placed in adoption Trey is currently in hospice care. Once he has lost some weight and has recovered
from his infection, we will be able to place him up for adoption. Trey entered rescue at 150 pounds and is now down to 135 pounds. His ideal weight is 80 pounds. Trey is currently on thyroid medicine and
on a high-quality lamb and rice diet. He suffered an infection in his toe and despite several weeks of antibiotics, the infection spread to the bone on his toe. Sadly, his toe had to be amputated to prevent
the spread of infection to other bones. His hospice home reports that Trey is doing well, and that he Trey's vet bills are $735 at this time, and he will need extended care in his hospice home.

- Achilles I am your typical Weimaraner. I am very active, I love people and attention, I need
lots of exercise, I am great with older kids but don't really get younger ones. I growl to let them know that they are getting on my nerves. I really
love to walk and run outside. I get along with other dogs when I am off leash. On the leash I am very protective. I need an owner who will be consistent
with obedience and patient. I need a strong male influence to let me know where I stand in the pack but I don’t respond to hitting. I would be a great
addition to a family who understands what a Weimaraner is all about. When I go to the dog park I might say hi to a few dogs but that’s about it.
I really rather say hi to the people. I am house trained and know basic obedience commands (I do have a hard time with stay). I am used to being
left in the house while my owner is at work, and I am not destructive-unless the trash is left out in the open (my owners usually lock it in the
bathroom) or food is left out I will help myself. In the evenings I usually curl up on my bed and sleep. When it is time for bed my owners put me
out for potty and then I follow them up and sleep in their room.
I am very afraid of fireworks and MUST not be left alone on the 4th of July. I usually hide in a closet and shake until they are over. I am very handsome
but don't let my looks fool you. I can be ornery. I like to let you know when strangers are close by barking and I have to be reminded again and again to
keep off the couch. If you will let me I would love to sleep on your bed. I need the run of the house while you are gone or I might scratch up your doors.
I have a nice bed, blanket, collar, and leather leash. I like the Iams lamb and rice formula. It’s easy to find at Target or Petsmart. I am great at sharing
my food and even my milk bones but not good at sharing my rawhide bones. I will growl at people and animals if they get too close to my rawhide. I also
love chewing on kong toys, I can chew all night if you will let me. I am in excellent health and just need a yearly check up and heart worm medication
also bordetella (so I don’t get a doggie cold when boarding). Sometimes a nice ear cleaning is great for me. I am six, will be seven in June but still
have lots of life left and act like a young doggie. I weigh about 75 pounds and 80 should be my max weight. I have a short coat and tend to get hot or cold
easily. I can’t be left alone outside (all day or all night) since I am so temperature sensitive but if you were to play with me outside all day, I would
totally be into that! I am the best fit for a home where someone has the time to exercise me. If I am not exercised properly I will let you know I am unhappy.
I really want to find a home that loves me and will have time to spend with me.

- Rosco 6 year old gray male weim. He was dropped off at the shelter by his owner for being "not good with kids". Rosco has some prey drive and
has killed a squirrel. He is not recommended with cats. Rosco does well with other dogs, is house-trained and knows basic obedience. Rosco is not crate-trained, but does fine if left alone in the house. Rosco has
until 4/10 to be out of the shelter and he NEEDS a foster home in order to get out. Update Roscoe is now in a foster home. He needs a 6 foot fence as he is a jumper. He is ok if left in a
crate, but prefers the run of the house. He's not destructive.

- Hunter My name is Hunter and my mom calls me Hunter h2o because I love water. I am a good boy who is going to be 7 this year and it breaks my moms heart to have to give me up. I am the most loveable dog and love to get love and give love. I would do good as a only dog in
an apartment or great in a house with other dogs. I love kids and cats too. I had a sister weim who I love dearly and I am going to miss. I just want a good home and a nice family. I just want someone to love on and be as good as my mom has been to me. I love the car and toys and can be loud sometimes when you get me going. You have
to meet me to love me.

- Aden is a 7 year old gray male weim. He is very small
for a male, weighing 56 pounds! He is a great boy - crate-trained, house-trained, obedience-trained and good with kids, cats and other dogs.
He was left at a Kansas shelter when his family lost their home due to financial problems. Aden is so frightened to be at the shelter.
We need a foster home in order to get him out. We have a ride for Aden if someone can foster him. Update: Foster Mom
He has been at our house for about 3 weeks now and is just a sweetheart. He definitely wants to please! He can escape from his crate and we have after
several attempts just left him out in the house with our other two weims crated. He has been fine until yesterday when he chewed up a folder with
paperwork in it! I am going to try to crate him again tomorrow since I will be gone for several hours during the day. Will use one of the other
dog's crates to see if he can escape that one! I have been taking him with me everywhere and he is SO good in the car. Just sits and waits for me,
lays down after awhile. He never barks at other dogs or people going by the car. He is good with cats and kids that I have been around in places like
Petco or Petsmart (none at my house anymore). I think he definitely likes having another dog around and would maybe be nervous without one (but not sure).
He does have some separation anxiety and wants to be with you at all times. He is very calm for a weim and after meeting one potential adopter
she said she was looking for a more energetic weim (has THAT ever happened?!)

- Sadie is a 7 year old gray female Weim. Her owner has fallen on hard times and can no longer care for her.
She is crate trained, knows all of her obedience commands, and more. She is in great shape for 7 years old - weighing in at a trim 60 pounds. Sadie is great with other
dogs, good around kids (although has never lived with children of her own), and cats - no way! Sadie is immediate need of a foster home!!! If you want an easy starting point,
Sadie might be the perfect match - they don't come any better than this. Sadie has been in foster care since August 2004 - she would love to find her forever home. Sadie is a special needs girl.
Sadie has a heart-mumur and is on PPA for urinary incontinence (as long as she is on the PPA she is fine.) Please email Michelle Daum at mdweimrescue@msn.com if you are interested in Sadie.

- Tess Hi! I’m Tess, a 7-year-old gray female weim. I haven’t had a great life up til now – my previous owners let me become extremely overweight
and the people at animal control rescued me from a neglectful and abusive situation. Because of my past, I am not very trusting, so am looking for a special family that will help me slim down and feel safe.
I am very well trained, including being house-trained and crate-trained. I love the company of other dogs, but love your company most of all. The great people at the Rescue discovered that I really like to
get attention from my people, but I am a little shy at first (it’s that trust thing). I don’t know if I like kids and cats yet, but would love to find out. I am in a fantastic hospice home right now because
I had a little problem after I got to the Rescue. I was doing great, had lost over 20 pounds, and the Rescue even got me hooked up on some necessary thyroid medicine, which helped with my weight loss. I was
just trying to slim down a little bit more to lower my risk of side effects from the surgery to get spayed. However, because I had never been spayed and am a little older, I was at high risk for developing a
uterine infection; the vet said those infections were common in older, unsprayed females and sure enough, I developed one! Thank goodness the Rescue was able to get me the emergency surgery (spay) that saved
my life. So now I am in a hospice home while I recover from the surgery. It’s a bit of a struggle, and I need some extra attention and medical care. Even though my past has been tough, the folks at the Rescue
have told me a forever family is out there somewhere. I know I have so much to offer – my love, attention, loyalty, and undying devotion, just to name a few! Please contact June June with the Utah/Idaho Weim Rescue to meet me.
Update:Tess has a foster home in Utah where she will stay to be placed for adoption Her outstanding vet bills still total $580. To donate toward Tess’ medical bills, please visit:

- Mae Hi! I'm Mae (Macey), a 7-year-old grey female
weim. I found the wonderful people at Mile High Weimaraner Rescue recently when they rescued me from a shelter
where I had been taken with my brother. My first owner gave us away through the paper and the family that took
us did not understand weimaraners or appreciate our fine athleticism and ability to love unconditionally, so they
surrendered us to the shelter. Although I am in a fantastic foster home right now, I really want to find my forever
family so I can let down my guard, get to know you, and share all the love and affection I have stored up inside!
I am great with other dogs, children, and cats, house-trained, and know my basic obedience commands, including "sit,"
and "down." I am very well-mannered, and VERY treat-oriented, so that makes learning fun and fast! I get lonely, so it
would be best if I had a home with another dog around. I am current on all my shots and just love to go to the park,
wrestle, a good bone to chew on, and (most of all) play! I LOVE to play fetch with a tennis ball, and I bet you get
tired of throwing it long before I get tired of bringing it back! When we're outside playing, I'll show off my hunting
heritage by finding and "pointing" at the tennis balls! I love to be active, and also like going for runs, and swimming
if you have a pond handy, which is good, because I am a big girl (86 pounds) and am trying to slim down just a tad so
I can show off my girlish figure. I like to walk, and do okay on a leash, although I would probably do best with a Gentle
Leader or harness since I am such a strong girl. Best of all is when I'm off-leash - I am very good about coming when I'm
called. Another favorite pastime my foster family has introduced me to is GROOMING - I'll take as many baths as you want
me to, and even sit perfectly still while you clip my nails and clean out my ears - being clean ROCKS! At the end of a busy
day, I love nothing better than to be near you and snuggle with you - I am a big love-bug! I'll rest my head on you and keep
you company while you watch TV, or lay right by your feet (unless I can get closer, like on the couch or bed)! I just celebrated
my birthday on 10/9 and look forward to growing old with my new forever family. A note from her foster mom:
We just love Macey because she is such a sweetheart. We have been calling her Macey instead of Mae and she responds well so it might
be a good idea to stick with that name if she is adopted. We call her Macey Gray J. She’s a big girl, but she has a heart to match
(and a stomach!). Our favorite things about her are how gentle she is despite her size. One day we looked over and she was actually
waiting in line behind our little cat to get to the water bowl. Once he was done drinking and walked away she stepped up to
the bowl for her turn. When she gets really excited about something (which is us coming home, preparing her dinner or getting
ready to go play) she makes the funniest sounds you can imagine that sound exactly like a little bird chirping – it is so funny!
Even though she’s older she keeps up with my two younger weims and loves to run. We take her running, throw the ball until
we can’t throw anymore, and take her skiing (both Nordic and backcountry). She loves to eat snow when we we’re out skiing. She
is extremely trustworthy off-lead and comes when called. Like most weims, however, she is quite a handful on the leash and needs
a gentle leader. We live in the country so hardly ever have her on-lead, so she’s not getting the best training with us in that
regard J. We leave Macey alone when we go out or to work and have found her to be very well-behaved, but we believe she absolutely
needs a buddy dog. Macey is more food-driven than most weims I’ve known, and is probably her only “fault”, if you can call it that.
You have to watch her like a hawk around food because she’ll steal it from right in front of you (cheese seems to be a favorite and
I’ve lost several chunks of gourmet cheese). I would say that means she has discerning taste. She’s VERY good with cats, as my story
before notes. Another funny story about her and the cat happened last week. She sleeps on a dog bed next to me and props herself up
on my bed in the morning to get love and say good morning. Last week she propped herself up with her front paws and my cat was lying
next to my head. He was intimidated by her so he hissed and reached out and slapped her in the face twice (he has no claws). She just
looked at him and kept on wagging her tail. It was so cute! I think a more submissive female or a male would make a better companion
for her. She knows all the standard commands (Stay, Come, Leave It, Drop) but I haven’t found any tricks yet (can’t Shake). She is
very mouth-grabby with treats but I’ve taught her “Gentle” and she is better everyday, this is something that will have to be reinforced.
We’re pretty fond of her so we’re only going to let her go to the right family. They’ll have to love her and spoil her, have another
dog and get her out playing every day. If you are interested in adopting Macey please contact the Rescue at mhwcrsqapprqst@msn.com.

- Shadow Howdy - I'm Shadow! A 9 year young and fun gray male weim
(birthdate 1/26/1999). I've lived with my current family the past 6 years, and they have really taught me a lot! I'm really
smart and know the following obedience commands: Come, Sit, Down, Stay, Bring, Heel, Release, Leave it, NOW (emergency
recall) I love adults, but I am not too fond of kids under the age of 10. My current family has a baby on the way and a
toddler. I would never hurt the kids, I just don't understand the way they move or why they try to get near me. I'm house-
trained and never have accidents. I like other dogs but I don't know about cats. I'm a really obedient boy and want to please
you. I'm neutered, up-to-date on shots and in excellent health! I'm only 70 pounds, so I'm on the smaller side for a male
weim. My family would like to find me a home before June 2008, and I would like to find a home that appreciates my
personality, charm and energy.

- James is a 9.5 year old gray male weim. His owner took him to a local
shelter because they have a new family member that is allergic to him. James is a well-behaved gentleman. He's wonderful with kids and
other dogs, but he does like to chase cats. James is house-trained and ok being left alone during the day (doesn't get into things or
have destructive behavior or barking habits.) Sadly, James is not a candidate for adoption at the shelter because
one of his fatty tumors tested positive for histamines. Some times histamines can indicate a mast-cell tumor. However, this is not
always the case. The tumor in question is 2cm. There is a protocol that we have seen success with to manage the mast-cell, and it is very
inexpensive and simple. Given James' age, rescue would not risk excising the tumor. We are looking for an immediate foster home for James. The shelter
has given us until close of business on Friday, January 18th. Please contact us at mhwcrsqapprqst@msn.com if you can foster James.
MHWCR can personally vouch for the joys of fostering a senior weim. They give you so much more than you give them, and they are so very grateful.
Update: from foster home: Jesse is doing very well! We are calling him Jesse (James) because he stole our hearts the moment he walked in the door. He is a definite no
with cats, but that is ok. He is a mellow fellow, and we like having him around. He likes to play with the other dogs, and we think he likes their company.
When he is done playing, he goes to his big fluffy bed and dozes in the sun. His ears and eyes are all cleared up, and he feels like a young man again! He is
gaining weight and doing great. We did discover that he is deaf. He communicates really well for being deaf, and once he understands your routinue he is a stickler for
it - he always knows when it is time for breakfast and dinner! We think a good home for Jesse would be one with at least one other dog, a doggie door, and perhaps where
life is fairly quiet - maybe with someone who is retired. Jesse is happy and deserves a place to call his own in his golden years.

- Clay is an 12 year old gray, male Weimaraner. He was
surrendered by his owner who could no longer keep him. He spent a few days at the shelter, and then the shelter found
rescue. He weighs 66 lbs and is current on all his shots. He needs a yard to run in, he does get along with other dogs and cats.
This guy is a sweetheart. He needs a foster home ASAP. He is arriving in Denver on Saturday, September 22nd. We don't want to board
this sweet senior boy. Update: Clay is a good old boy. He is great with other dogs and still is playful.
He has lived his entire life outside and points birds on his own. He was probably someone's hunting companion. He is crate-trained
and very affectionate. He's a smaller male, only 66 pounds. He arrived into Denver, and is currently in boarding. He would
love a foster home, please!! Clay is very friendly with kids of all ages. Please contact us at mhwcrsqapprqst@msn.com
Update: 12/11/07 from Clays Foster Home Clay is doing very well. After watching such a wonderful dog literally starve to death to the heartworms,
it was decided to proceed with treating the heartworms. Given Clay's age (he turned 12 on 10/8/07) it was not sure he would survive the intense treatment, but Clay is in
amazingly good shape for his age, and his heart was strong and his lungs were clear. So, 4 weeks ago we began the heartworm treatment. Clay survived! And is thriving without
those nasty worms. Clay spent 3 weeks in confinement, and has been cleared for light walks. Clay is simply the best dog. He is so sweet and is just happy to be indoors.
When he goes outside he loves to rub his face in the snow and roll on his back in the grass. He has gained nearly 5 pounds and still has about 5 to go. He loves food!!
He also loves soft, comfy blankets and has helped himself to the couch. He is great left out in the house (as we accidentally didn't close the crate all the way). So, Clay
was just sleeping on the couch and didn't get into anything. He is completely house-trained now and goes right to the door when he needs to go out. He is a definite NO with
cats, though. He has a very strong hunting instinct. Clay spent some time in another foster home, before the heartworm treatment, and they bought him a handsome red sweater
so that he doesn't get cold. Clay loves his sweater, rides in the car and short walks. Clay listens very well and is very friendly. He would make a great companion for those
that appreciate a seasoned and well-trained boy. And he's ready to shower his new family with love.
We have received many kind donations to help with Clay's vet expenses, however we still have $260 outstanding to our wonderful vet for the heartworm treatment.
To donate to Clay's vet expenses, please visit: Update: that all the money has been raised thanks to a very generous local donor!!

- Cooper is a 5 month old gray male weim. He's a ball of energy and oh so sweet. He's great with cats, kids and other dogs. He's about 30 pounds, so
he'll most likely be an average-sized male weim between 60-70 pounds full grown. Cooper is house-trained, he is ok in a wire crate IF another dog is crated next to him or he can see his people at night.
He's learning about the leash and we're working on sit. He's a super-friendly little guy and just waiting for the right family to give him a good home.

- Charlie is a 7 month old blue male weim. Charlie was purchased over the Internet and was not from a reputable breeder. Because
he was bred just for money, Charlie has a health condition that may require expensive surgery. Charlie's owners didn't have the money to pay for vet care and gave him to our rescue group.
Charlie came into rescue weighing only 15 pounds at 5 months old. Charlie was severely malnourished. Now, though, Charlie is growing! Charlie is house-trained but doesn't like his crate.
He adores other dogs, children and cats. Update: Charlie is thriving in his foster home. He is a fairly mellow puppy, until left for more than a couple of hours. He would be best suited
in a home where people are home during the day. He will need some work on liking the crate, though he does sleep there at night for about 7 hours. Charlie weighs nearly 28 pounds!! He is
full of life and LOVES to play. He loves squeaky toys! He also loves to cuddle on the couch. He loves his food. He eats 4 times a day, and continues to get better. His medical condition
has virtually disappeared now that he is on a high-quality, age appropriate food. Charlie will be around 40 pounds full grown, so a very small weim. Charlie is learning to not use his teeth
when he plays, so he may not be good around small children or children that are rough (he is small and delicate). Please note that Charlie needs the following type of home: people who are
home most of the day, experienced in crate-training, able to afford high-quality food, ideally with another dog that is playful, someone with time and patience to train him, someone who will
adore and love him as part of their family. If you are interested in adopting Charlie please contact us at mhwcrsqapprqst@msn.com

- Remington Note from his Foster Mom. Remington likes to eat! Being underweight and partly
starved for a while he will eat as much dog food as he can get. I am feeding him smaller meals 3 times a day so he doesn't feel as hungry and to get his
weight up. He understands the commands, NO, stay, down, and come. We are working on sit and off. He does not jump when you get home but does want attention right
away.
He is crate trained and I am thinking mostly house trained. We had a few accidents at the beginning with him marking his territory but he is a newly neutered
2 year old. We haven't had any accidents since. He likes to be on the furniture and doesn't care who he steps on to get there. I do not know how he is around children
but if they are sitting on the couch, floor or bed he probably would step on them to get where he wants.
He likes to play with other dogs and does get along with
other dogs. I do not know how he is around cats but he likes to chase squirrels so there could be some issues there. He will play if there is someone to play with
and if not he will lay down and sleep or chew on a bone. He likes to bury his bones and will use the furniture to do so. (Cute to watch! LOL)
I am using a squirt bottle as a training tool and to learn what he can and can't do. He is not much of a barker. In fact, I haven't heard him bark yet but I don't know if he does when
I am gone. I haven't heard my neighbors say anything and I have asked them to let me know. He is somewhat of a klutz. He has a tendency to trip over his feet and
slide on hardwood and ceramic floors. He also falls of the bed and couch regularly usually it is his back end that slides off.
Update: 2/27/08
Remington has now filled out very nicely in the two months that he has been with me. He loves to play outside but is also content to play inside with a ball, stuffed animal or bone.
He is sleeping through the night in his crate and doesn't mind being in there during the day when I am gone. I give him a cookie when I leave in the morning and tell him what time
I will be back. Remington loves to be near someone and will lay at your feet while you are watching TV etc. We are working on manners and that he is not to climb over someone to
get to a spot. He does not jump up anymore and knows the words off, stay and come. We are still working on sit but he is learning. He would make a great family dog.

- Justice 2 year old blue weimaraner. He is currently being fostering in Wichita, KS. He was turned into a shelter by his family because
they lost their home. Justice is a great boy - house-trained, obedience trained and very friendly. Update: He is a 3 year old blue with a natural tail. He is a very very
laid back weim. He love to just lounge around the house with you. But if he hears the word go, car keys, or sees a leash he is ready to go! He is very obedient and even knows a few tricks. He shakes
hands and speaks when asked. He also will let you know when he wants something by talking to you. He loves to go for walks and is good on the leash. His previous owner really cared about him and put
lots of time into training him. He had to give him up due to family and money issues. He is house trained and crate trained. He is putting on a little weight as he was thin and probably will level out
around 80 lbs. He gets along with dogs, cats and does fine with kids. We leave him out in the house while we are gone and he does fine. He is eagerly awaiting his forever home where he can settle in
with a new family the will love him. He is being neutered this week. Justice does need at least one other dog around, and that he has mild separation anxiety so he would do best with a home that has
owned a weim before.

- Gage Lonely, 2-year-old gray male weim seeking forever family . ... I'm Gage, a small (60-pound) weim that is new to Denver.
I am excited to see all the city sites, since I have spent most of my life on a farm. I love to run! I lived on the farm with my sister, Greta, but the Rescue thinks it will be better if we go to
separate forever homes. I like children and am usually good with other dogs, too, as long as they're bigger dogs. I don't do well with smaller dogs or cats, though. I am currently in
a foster home, house-trained and crate-trained, although I will need some help working on my obedience commands since I mostly ran loose on my farm previously. I can't wait to find a
forever family to love and spend my days with . . . please contact the Rescue soon so we can meet! mhwcrsqapprqst@msn.com

- Baron is a 3 year old blue male Weimaraner. His full name is Baron Von Shotzee III which fits. Shotzee means sweetheart in German and he is a very sweet boy. He is fabulous
with dogs, children of all ages, and cats (okay, they need a little chasing now and then). Baron is so affectionate and eager to please! He is sweet with everyone but really likes to bond with one special person. He has proven to be very trainable.
He is crate trained and housebroken. He rings a bell to go out or can use a dog door. He heals well for running and walking, and recalls well. Baron has been in his current home for almost 2 years. While here, he has received obedience training and
lots of love. Baron has not adjusted well to the birth of a new human baby and the mental and physical decline of a human grandma as those things have diverted Mom’s attention away from him. Baron needs daily walks or runs and loves hiking. He
is a little shy of strangers when he is on lead. Baron would benefit from a home in which his primary “person” is with him all the time. He would also do best in an environment and household that is predictable. He has done okay with small children
in the home but he would probably do better in a home where more attention is available for him. Additional dogs and cats are fine with him. Baron needs a foster home, please. Contact MHWRC mhwcrsqapprqst@msn.com if you are interested in fostering or adopting Baron.
